Use PrepSheet in ChatGPT, Claude and Zapier

PrepSheet has a free connector for AI assistants: an MCP server at https://getprepsheet.com/mcp. Add it to an assistant that supports MCP connectors and you can ask it to cost a recipe, work out GP with UK VAT taken off, or build a prep list, and it gets the answer from the same maths as the calculators on this site. No account, no sign-in, read-only.

What it can do

• cost_recipe: Cost any recipe from its ingredients, pack prices and quantities, and suggest a menu price from a target food cost %.
• calculate_gp: UK gross profit with VAT taken off first: GP % from a selling price, or the selling price for a target GP.
• build_prep_list: Turn par levels and what is on hand into a prep list grouped by station.
• list_starter_recipes: List PrepSheet's pre-costed UK starter recipes with cost per portion.
• get_recipe_prep_sheet: Scale one starter recipe to any number of covers, with method and batch cost.
• get_starter_menu: Costed starter menus for a pub, café, restaurant or takeaway, with GP per dish.

How to add it

Connector URL: https://getprepsheet.com/mcp · transport: Streamable HTTP · authentication: none.

• Claude: add a custom connector in Claude's settings and paste the URL.
• ChatGPT: custom connectors are added with developer mode switched on in ChatGPT's settings. Create a connector, paste the URL and choose no authentication.
• Zapier: use the MCP Client by Zapier app with the URL, then call the tools from a Zap, for example to cost a recipe from a Google Sheets row.
• Anything else that speaks MCP: point it at the URL. It is also listed in the official MCP Registry as com.getprepsheet/prepsheet.

Menu names in these apps change often; if a step above has moved, search the app's help for “connectors” or “MCP”.

What it doesn't do

It cannot read or change a saved recipe book, an account, purchases or invoice scans, and it does not store what the assistant sends. Starter recipe costs use sample UK wholesale prices, not your suppliers' prices. The figures are estimates, and an assistant can misread what you asked, so check the numbers before you rely on them.
