PrepSheet

About PrepSheet

PrepSheet is one working chef's kitchen paperwork, cleaned up and shared. The free calculators, the recipe tool and the Excel templates in the shop all started as spreadsheets built for real services: the sheets used to cost a dish, price a menu and run prep on an actual line.

Who is behind it

A working chef in the UK. The same person runs The Pass on YouTube and the free newsletter at thepasscook.com. Employers and venues are never named here, and there is no company behind the site: no team, no funding, no sales department. One chef, one laptop, and the numbers a kitchen actually runs on.

What is here

How the numbers are done

Gross profit is measured on the ex-VAT selling price, the way UK kitchens and their accountants measure it, and the working benchmark on this site is a food cost of 30–35% of the net price (a food GP of 65–70%). The survey data behind that figure is on the UK food cost & GP benchmarks page.

How PrepSheet makes money

Paid templates, sold one at a time or as the Kitchen Pack. That is the whole model: no subscriptions, no advertising on the site, and no selling of visitor data. The free tools stay free.
